The clinical negligence team at Barcan Woodward Solicitors last week secured a significant settlement for Terry Heath, of Lockleaze, Bristol, following a long battle for compensation after he experienced problems with his knee replacement surgery completed at Weston General in 2004.
The surgery was completed by Scandinavian surgeons working at the hospital as part of a £3 million scheme to reduce waiting times. After experiencing problems a second operation was then completed a year later at Southmead Hospital.
Mr Heath has continued to experience considerable pain which has significantly impacted on his quality of life since the surgery. The settlement will enable him to move to a bungalow and make necessary changes to improve his quality of life.
Richard Barcan, Mr Heath’s solicitor said “This has been a very successful outcome to a long-running claim. I am delighted that the case has settled on satisfactory terms at last so that Mr Heath can provide himself with suitable accommodation, equipment, therapies and care to make a real difference to his life.”
Full details of the case were reported in Bristol Evening Post.
